I designed this first floor bath with the client to have all surfaces updated without moving walls or most in-wall plumbing. Wall finish is Gomex concrete veneer, and bypass doors are satin glass on a single stainless rail glide which enclose shower and laundry. Darker tile of the same design was used on the main floor, and shower floor is a mosaic of honed marble. New wall cabinet was inset flush to wall with premium soft close mortise hinges. Vanity has five solid maple dovetail drawers with premium undermount glides. Modern LED sconces with a dimmer add more light to the room, and a water wise rain-shower head makes showering more comfortable.

I designed this bungalow to have a mission style entry door to match the interior furniture grade trim. I designed it for ventilation without having to open up the door or rely on a screen door. I used a traditional manual door bell with matching hinges and mortise latch. My design incorporated the antique iron work from an old window for the shape of the inset “window”, which I had powder painted to match other hardware. Note the Stickley style valence for the window shades, and reproduction period light switches.

Inspired by San Jose’s Rose Garden, a large backyard pergola was designed with the client to shade the seating half of the patio next to the outdoor kitchen. Center cut redwood 12” x 12” posts frame an open space that will have a fire pit, sofas, and dining for large parties. Future plantings will cover canopy.

An integrated “built-in” wall bed as part of a whole wall design helps keep the room looking large and offers many possibilities for storage and display. Twin, full or queen beds can be designed as tall mounted or side mounted. The bed front and overall design can have any facia style to match your needs. The cherry Shoji screen look works well for this client because the doors throughout the condo were made to match.

I am passionate about kitchen design. Modern or traditional, the whole deal or just an island. Old homes where not built for refrigerators often requiring redesign of the floorpan. New appliances in older kitchens require material matching and space planning. The glass backsplash was templated so that no cutting was required on site.

A labor of love. I handcrafted the soapstone countertops. I restored the plaster finish to a new archway over the bar area to match existing archway in living room. We opened up the kitchen to the dining with a bar top while integrating floor trim, window cover valences and picture rail all with the Stickley style white oak, corbels and dark stain. Bartop is heated with integrated electric element for comfortable breakfasts. Side panel of microwave cabinet is white oak veneer laminated over steel for magnets. Custom stainless steel spice jar racks make an inset spice cabinet in the endwall cavity. Kitten access was important through kitchen pocket door and laundry cabinet. Custom built-in features make this small kitchen very efficient for a lot of activities. Careful drawer dimensioning keeps most small appliances off of the countertops. Other unique features are the bamboo knife holder, inset in a removable custom stainless holder, a bread box, and hand crafted towel rack with glass rod.

The stickley / mission style console features storage for vinyl records and DVD’s. Customized for vinyl records and the Anthem MRX series receiver and the Paradigm Prestige speaker. Woodworking incorporates my design style of quarter sawn white oak panels in rift sawn white oak frames. Top is solid rift cut white oak. Prototype cabinet was used to approve dimensions, and pull out drawer was added to left side for DVD’s. All components were hardwired through plaster walls. I chose the Paradigm speaker set because of the low profile left and right speakers and the wall mounted sub-woofer.

The modern fireplace wall unit was engineered for the granite face to float off the floor with the glass door cabinets. The African artwork was cut and installed on sliding panels to hide TV. Glass display shelves feature lighting, and chimney flu was housed in custom stainless steel shroud.

This sideboard was designed for a small dining room to match the Stickley table and chairs. Dimensions were tested by first making a prototype cabinet. Careful proportions of the corbels, doors and drawers make this design adhere to similar arts & crafts sideboards. I designed and built the stained glass using the copper foil method with my unique style for the arts & craft tradition. A signature of my design style is to have quarter-sawn white oak panels set into rift-sawn white oak frames.

This dining room hutch was purpose-designed to match Stickley dining chairs and a family heirloom arts & crafts table. Stain matched to the Stickley Lafayette finish, with a pull-out base drawer and wine rack. Installed with leveler feet and remote control LED lighting in upper and lower cabinet.

This Mission Style bar in cherry was commissioned for a three-season party porch with a durable top and lockable storage. Sliding doors make sure that it is not a tip hazard and rounded corners and a poly finish make it more safe and durable. Doors glide on handcrafted track with inset runners made of Ipe for long lasting durability.

Built to match all the other Stickley in the house, we decided to do a lighter stain and to make the floors easier to clean by hanging the side tables on the wall. Dresser and Laundry cabinet were built for the room dimensions. A deep dresser was not necessary for the clothing size, and the slim depth allows for french door swing and more floor space. Bed height accommodates drawer storage for shoes, and was built using the Festool Domino XL connector set for both the drawer box insert supports and the bed rails.

These étageres were designed to match interior built-ins for a Caspari retail store.

Unique to my style and ability. Many of these underwent extensive research and prototyping to be “just right” for the client.
